Claire Lyons, the new girl from Orland(ew), Florida, has the nerve to show up at Octavian Country Day school (OCD) wearing Keds and two-year-old GAP overalls. She is clearly not top Clique (aka the Pretty Committee) material and Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen have no problem letting everyone know it. Unfortunately, Claires family is staying in the guest house on Massies familys huge estate and the girls are stuck with each other. Claires future looks worse than a Prada knockoff. But with a little luck and a lot of scheming, she might just stand a chance.

Summary: Great movie, stays true to the book!
Comment: When I saw a commercial for the clique it looked like it wasn't that great, but then a lot of people commented that it was good, and I realized it probably would be good...even if it wasn't the best movie ever, but it was one of my favorites!
At times it wasn't awesome, but mostly it was! Here are a few pros:
* It stayed very true to the clique book and it had some of the same lines. I'm glad they didn't change it a lot. I could reconize my favorite parts from the book coming up in scenes.
* The characters fit the descriptions pretty well, especially Claire (or Kuh-Laire)! She was exactly how I imagined. Layne was perfect as well. "Want some oatmeal?"
* Their clothes we sooo cute! Except Claire's and I didn't like the green uggs Massie wore in one scene, but still cute clothes!
* The OCD school was even more awesome than I thought...indoor tennis court, a yoga room, fashionable clothes, the cool art room...it was lovely! I want to go there! :-)
* It was funny and it had a moral: you don't have to be popular to have friends.
Sometimes it wasn't exactly that good (it still was great though) here are some Cons:
* The characters looked like 9th or 10th graders and they were suppose to be in 7th grade! I think they should have used characters that looked a little younger.
* Claire wasn't that good when she was suppose to be crying, she kept smiling a little bit. I thought they could have taught her to cry a little better, so it would look more professional in the movie.
* Dylan was suppose to be a little chubby, but she looked like a normal weight to me...
* It was an awesome movie and it should have been longer, it was like 90 minutes.
I recommend The Clique movie to clique book fans ages 11-15! :D

Comment: This direct to DVD adaptation of book 1 of the Clique series was pretty awesome! The cast from the movie are very true to the characters of the book! The plot is basically the same as book 1. It is appropriate for girls of all ages and is colorful, fast paced and funny. I would definitely recommend this movie to fans of the series! My favorite was the actress that plays Dylan! she was Ah-dorable (though not chubby like how i thought dylan would be.)

Comment: Because this movie was direct-to-video, I thought it would be unwatchable and a complete misrepresentation of the books. The movie used actual lines from the book, which definietly scored high with me because I hate book-to-movies that don't translate. The adaptation put the Clique in a different light than I was used to. It showed Massie as someone everyone hated but bowed down to anyways for reasons not explained. I was happily surprised to see that parts of it were quite good and actually touching.
That said, the non-quite good parts varied from being watchable to hilariously bad. Other than that, it actually wasn't that funny unless you're making fun of it so it's not really a comedy. Or a drama. I'm not sure how the critics reacted to the movie, or even that they reviewed it, but it's sad to see that this movie didn't get a chance to go to theaters. Maybe the sequel...?
